Mediation Works Incorporated (MWI) is presenting a “mediation information session“ that will be held on Tuesday, May 5th at 1:00 p.m. in Room 117 of the law school.
Also consider participating in MWI’s “Mediation Certification Training“. The training sessions will take place on June 10, 18, 19, 25 and 26 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. also at the law school (participants must attend each session). MWI’s comprehensive thirty-hour mediation training is co-sponsored by SNESL and University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. MWI’s mediation training program is designed to prepare participants to effectively facilitate the mediation process by exploring all aspects of mediation through lectures, demonstrations, interactive exercises, supervised role-plays, and group discussions. In addition, participants will learn how to deal with difficult personalities and work through ethical dilemmas as they apply the mediation process, all while improving their personal communication skills. Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion in accordance withy M.G.L. Chapter 233 Section 23C (Massachusetts Mediation Confidentiality Statute) and a mediation reference manual. Following the successful completion of the mediation training, participants will have the opportunity to gain valuable mediation experience as observers and co-mediators in small claims disputes in a number of district courts, including New Bedford, Fall River, Plymouth and Taunton.
