1/28: Don’t miss the women lawyers networking and art exhibit! The Women’s Bar Association of New Bedford/Fall River with the Women’s Fund are hosting “The Art of Social Justice” at the New Bedford Whaling Museum at 18 Johnny Cake Hill in New Bedford from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. featuring artwork focusing on girl’s/women’s issues and social justice.  Tickets are $20–which includes complimentary wine and appetizers–can be purchased online at www.cfsema.org/womensfund.
1/28: Join Asian American students and lawyers at Boston Event if you register by Friday 01/22/10! Women Attorneys: Event/Opportunity

The Women’s Fund of Southeeast Massachusetts (WFSM) and the Women’s Bar Association local chapter are hosting a networking event at the New Bedford Whaling Museum on the evening of January 28th featuring artwork on the theme of social justice with a focus on girls’/women’s issues. Over 200 women from the community attended the prior MFSM event! This is a great opportunity for women lawyers to come together and introduce their law practices to one another, especially for new attorneys who hope to get their name out in the community. Tickets are $20 and for an additional $105 you can be listed as a donor on the invitation (sent to 2,700 people) and other advertising including in the local newspaper, as well as display materials about your practice at the event. Boston Bar Foundation Fundraiser & Networking Event, June 25, 2009

“Justice is Sweet” June 25th: The Boston Bar Foundation is hosting it’s third annual Gala—complete with live jazz, chocolate fondue and wine—where attendees can network and socialize all in support of over 50 nonprofit legal aid organizations.  Although tickets can be purchased for either $50 (law students and legal services attorneys) and $75, donated tickets are also available for those who are interested in attending but do not have the necessary financial resources. Federal Job/Internship Fair in D.C.: Friday, July 16, 2009 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The Partnership for Public Service will be hosting its annual Public Service Career and Internship Fair on Friday, July 16, 2009 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the National Building Museum located at 401 F Street N.W. in Washington, D.C.  Last year’s Fair brought together 67 federal agencies and over 3,000 students and young professionals to discuss government career and internship opportunities, and participate in numerous information sessions.  For further information and registration go online to http://careerfairstudentregistration.eventbrite.com/.

So You Want to Be a Judge?

Thursday, June 11th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The Massachusetts Judicial Nominating Committee comes to SNESL. The JNC will meet with members of the legal community to present “How to Apply for a Judgeship: The Judicial Selection Process” and discuss the judicial application and selection process. In addition to guest speakers Hon. Lawrence Moniz and Hon. Thomas F. McGuire, Jr., the JNC’s Chair, Executive Director, Assistant Director and a Member will also participate on the panel. Light refreshments will follow the discussion. The event is sponsored by the Bristol County Bar Association.

FYI, the Department of Industrial Accidents will be coming to SNESL in the fall for a similar presentation focused on recruiting minority applicants for upcoming 6-year appointments for Administrative Judges and Administrative Law Judges.
